This week, we ask Phil all about Roof Domes

Date Posted: 02 August 2016

What are roof domes?

Roof domes are a great way to get natural light into your home or office through a flat roof, though they can be used on a sloped roof as well. They come in all shapes and sizes including square, rectangle, pyramid and circular shaped roof domes.

What kind of roof domes are available?

Most popular roof domes are made from polycarbonate with a choice of clear or diffused finish depending on how much light you want to come into your room. These are incredibly strong and can be fitted with either pre-builders kerb or upstands that work seamlessly with your roof covering.

All leading sky light manufacturers have a range of roof domes, though they vary in size and shape. You can choose between fixed or hinged, allowing you to ventilate your room or even allow roof access. You can also get glass roof domes and if you need an air ventilation system (AOV) you can link it in to existing or new opening roof domes as well.

How can I get the most out of my roof domes?

If you’re looking to replace existing roof domes, all you need to do is let us know the sizes and we’ll be happy to let you know what replacement options are available. If you’re adding roof domes to a loft conversion, home extension or new-build, we can let you know what best fits your needs. You can get a range of roof dome blinds and covers to fit perfectly with them to control light and give your space a great finish.

We’ll also be happy to help you decide if you want glass, polycarbonate, clear or diffused and show you how they differ in terms of energy efficiency in your home, how much natural light you will get and how to dress them.
